Day 1: GUWAHATI LGBI AIRPORT TO CHANDUBI ECO-CAMP OF WAVE ECO TOURISM, 39 KMS/51 MINS

Pickup from the Guwahati LGBI Airport to Chandubi Eco-camp of Wave Ecotourism situated in Joramukhoria village of Chandubi. Chandubi is surrounded by the lush hills and mountains of Assam and Meghalaya and amidst a scintillating natural landscape lies the largest lake of Assam – Chandubi.

CHANDUBI ECO-CAMP – BHALUKPONG, 290 KMS/6 HRS

In the morning after breakfast drive to Bhalukpong, the sylvan paradise in Arunachal Pradesh. On arrival, check into a hotel. In the evening visit one of Asia’s largest gardens of orchids that houses over 450 rare orchids out of 1000 found in India. You can also visit the snow-fed Kameng River that flows alongside.

Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 03: BHALUKPONG - DIRANG, 137 KMS/5 HRS

After breakfast drive to Dirang that has a picturesque Monpa Valley (8600ft). En-route we will visit Bomdila Monastery, which was constructed by Tsona Gontse Rinpoche, the 12th reincarnate. The monastery is one of the most famous attractions of Bomdila and was inaugurated in 1965. Bomdila monastery is abode to Buddhist Monks and Lamas. It is believed to be the monastery here in Bomdila is exact replica of Tsona Gontse Monastery.

DAY 04: DIRANG - TAWANG, 145 KMS/6 HRS

After an early breakfast we will leave for one of the most popular tourist destinations, Tawang. We will be driving through the beautiful valley of Dirang to reach Sela Pass (13703 ft). En-route bubbling river and colorful tribes will greet you. On reaching spend some time around the paradise lake, which is the land of the Monpa tribes and a major center of the Mahayana Buddhism. Later, we will continue our drive to Tawang. Upon arrival, check into a hotel. In the evening you can visit the Craft Center and traditional Monpa Village.

DAY 05: TAWANG

Tawang Monastery which is an important seat of Mahayana Buddhism is located here. This world famous monastery of the Gelukpa was founded during the 17th century by Mera Lama Lodre Gyaltso who is considered as a contemporary of the 5th Dalai Lama. It is Asia’s second largest monastery and India’s largest which controls 17 Gompas in the region. The highlights of this monastery are the imposing three-storied assembly hall and the 28 ft high golden statue of Lord Buddha. There is also a big library which has an impressive collection of ancient books and manuscripts. The famous Buddhist gold inscribed scriptures Kangyur and Tangyur are preserved here.

Another attraction of Tawang is the Urgyelling Monastery which is considered sacred as it is the birth place of Thangyang Gyatso, the sixth Dalai Lama. Bramadung Chung, Sengsarbu Ani Gompa, Gyanggong Ani Gompa are also well known nunneries and monasteries with the Ani Gompa being one of the oldest in the country.

There are also beautiful natural Lakes in Tawang like the Sangetsar Lake which is known for its scenic surroundings as well as rare avi-fauna like snow pigeon and musk deer and the PTso Lake for its picturesque landscape.

Other attractions include the War Memorial, Craft Centre and the local markets.

DAY 06: TAWANG - BOMDILA, 180 KMS/5 HRS

It is 109 km from Bhalukpong and is the headquarters of West Kameng District. The place is inhabited by tribes like Aka (Hrusso), Miji (Sajalong), Monpa, Sherdukpen, and Bogun (Khawas). The craft centers, monasteries, ethnographic museum and emporium etc. are worth visiting. One can also watch various snow clad mountain peaks from Bomdila including the Kangto and Gorichen Peaks which are the highest peak of the state.

DAY 07: BOMDILA – TIPI – TEZPUR, 210 KMS/6 HRS

Today after breakfast we will drive to Tezpur, en-route visit the Orchid Center at Tipi. Tipi houses over 7500 orchids. On display are some of the finest species like the Dainty Lady’s Slipper or the more formal sounding Dendrobium. Continue drive to Tezpur. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. DAY 04 & 05: ITANAGAR - ZIRO, 112 KMS/3 HRS 31 MIN

It is 167 km from Itanagar. Ziro, which is the headquarters of lower Subansiri district, is located 1500 metres above sea level. It is a beautiful hill station as well as one of the oldest towns of the state. Mainly inhabited by the Apatani tribe, this valley is rich in biological diversity. Both sub-tropical and alpine forests are found here along with various types of flora and fauna. The town wears a festive look during festivals celebrated by the Apatani people.

Talley Valley - It is a wildlife sanctuary as well as a bio-diversity hotspot located at a distance of 32 kms from Ziro towards the north east. Comprising sub-tropical and alpine forests it has a variety of flora and fauna, many of which are endangered. The place offers great trekking opportunities.

Talley Valley Reserved Forest and Talle Wildlife sanctuary is situated at an elevated level with rivers like Pange, Sipu, Karing and Subansiri flowing through the Reserved Forest and Sanctuary. It is home to highly endangered species like clouded leopard. Pleioblastus simone is a bamboo variety only found in Talley Valley.

Shiva Lingam at Kardo Forest - There is a 25 ft tall and 22 ft wide Shiva lingam in Kardo forest which is located 4 kms from Hapoli town. Large number of devotees throng the spot everyday which was accidently discovered in July 2004.

DAY 06: ZIRO - DAPORIJO, 167 KMS/5 HRS 34 MIN

It is 297 km from Itanagar and is the headquarters of West Siang District. Aalo is situated in a picturesque valley at the confluence of Sipu and Siyom rivers against the backdrop of verdant hills and is one of the oldest towns with a strong educational setup. Some places of tourist attraction here are the Patum Bridge over Yomgo River, Museum and Donyi-Polo Dere. The place is also popular for trekking, hiking and angling.

Likabali - It is 160 km from Itanagar and is a sub-divisional headquarters of West Siang District. Likabali is one of the most widely known and important archaeological sites of the State. It is also the entry point to Arunachal from Silapathar in Dhemaji district of Assam.

Malinithan - The temple ruins and sculptures here testify the visit of Lord Krishna who stopped over on the way to Dwarka from Bhismaknagar along with his wife Rukmini to grace the hospitality of Malini (a form of Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva’s consort). The temple ruins dating back to 10th and 14th century AD have rich sculptural and architectural value. Beautifully designed and decorated basement of temple, divine images, icons and deities- animal motifs and floral designs, carved columns and panels have been unearthed here. DAY 02: PASIGHAT- DAYING ERING WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

This sanctuary is 13 km from Pasighat and is spread over a cluster of river islands. One can reach there by cruising the Siang River. The unique ecosystem of this sanctuary has made it a natural habitat for different species of birds including migratory birds like cranes, wild ducks, storks, waterfowls, etc, which come from Siberia and Mongolia from September to February every year. The sanctuary is a veritable delight to amateur and professional ornithologists. The forest islands are home to hog deer, hispid hare, and wild buffalo, Sambars, elephants and other rainforest macro and micro fauna.

Siang - Siang river, which originates from Tibet and forms the main flow of the mighty Brahmaputra, is a socio-cultural poetry with a unique personification of its own. Many rapids on the Siang river have been a prime attraction for River rafting and water sports. The challenging expedition begins at Tuting in Upper Siang. The river runs through the gorges of Nigguing and Marmon, both, with their thick forest covering, reaching up to the heavens. It negotiates the finest big volume white water in an area, which is often rated as one of the most inaccessible in the world-just getting to the jump-off point takes a journey of four days by boat and jeep. The self-contained 180-km run from Tuting to Pasighat includes a 10-mile stretch of massive rapids with names such as Moing Madness, Zebra Rock and Pulsating Palìsi. But there are calmer moments on the river where one can just float along with the current. The adrenaline rush is high and you’ll be able to dine out for months on the tales you take back home. Abundance of rich aquatic life has attracted anglers again and again.

Mouling National Park (Jengging) - This park which is 195 km from Pasighat is situated in Upper Siang district and covers an area of 483 sq. kms. Here one can see some rare wildlife such as Takins, Serow, Goral, Clouded Leopard, Black bear, Leopard, Red Panda, etc. During winter, large number of migratory birds can be spotted in this park.

River Siang in this region is at the height of natural and scenic beauty. Meandering through the mighty Himalayas, it provides beautiful landscapes and natural beauty.

Kekar Monying(Black Rock) - Is in the East Siang District. It is one of the important places of the state where memorials have been erected of Adis who fought with the British at this site on 4th December 1911 and died a heroic death. A stone cliff stands 50metres high with about 500metres in length.

Komsing - - This is the place where the British had erected an epitaph/memorial stone of Sir N.Willamson who was killed by Narmi Manmur Jamoh. There is also a long and high suspension bridge constructed by the British. Stay overnight at hotel.

Located at a distance of 180 km from Pasighat, it is the headquarters of Upper Siang district and is situated amidst beautiful landscape and natural beauty.

Dehang - This reserve covers a part of Jengging, Tuting, Gelling and Singa in Upper Siang district and Mippi and Anini in Dibang Valley district. It covers an area of 5111.5 sq km with altitudinal variation from 500 to 16000 ft height that leads to snow clad peaks and glacial lakes. The reserve accommodates eight types of forests namely- sub-tropical broad leaved, sub-tropical pine, temperate broad leaved, temperate conifer, sub-alpine scrubs, alpine pastures, bamboo groves and grasslands. It is one of the identified bio-diversity hot spots in the country.

The Gelling-Tuting-Singa triangle constitutes the ‘Pemako Zone’ of the Tibetan form of Buddhism with small hamlets of the lamas amidst serene natural environment. The Gompas and Buddhist shrines have golden Buddha statues, old scrolls and other traditional artifacts of the Tibetan form of Buddhism.

Parasuram Kund - This holy kund is situated within the Kamlang Reserve Forest area and is surrounded by dense forest of Ruddhraksha trees which is considered sacred to Hindus. It is a sacred place where according to Kalika Purana, Srimat Bhagawata and the Mahabharata, sage Parasuram (one of Lord Vishnu’s incarnations) took a dip in the waters of Lohit at Brahma Kund to cleanse his sin (he had killed his mother on the instruction of his father). Every year on Makar Sankranti (first day of the month Magh) thousands of pilgrims converge here to take a dip in the water to wash away their sins. A fair (mela) is held during this period.

After breakfast tour to Namdopha National Park. This Park is the 15th Tiger Reserve of the country that is spread over an area of 1985 sq km. It is the only National Park in the country where four of the felines (tiger, the leopard, the snow leopard and clouded leopard) are found. Bison, sambar, barking deer and a variety of snakes are the other inhabitants of the park.

Moreover, the Noa-Dihing River meanders through the forest and has a rich variety of aquatic life. Another unique feature of this park is that it covers a wide range of altitude from 200m to 4500m. The upper reaches remains covered with snow during most part of the year. DAY 02: DIBRU-SAIKHOWA – ROING, 116 KMS/ 3 HRS 41 MINS

After breakfast check out the eco-camp and drive to Roing. It is a picturesque town in a valley by the side of the Dibang River. Nehru Van Udyan, a beautiful forest park on the riverbank at Deopani has a well maintained garden and an orchidium. One can see orange orchards on the way from Roing to Bismaknagar, Baily Bridge on Deopani River and tribal villages of the Idu Mishmi community.

DAY 03: ROING- MAYUDIA, 54 KMS/1 HRS 20 MIN

After breakfast early morning tour to Mayudia pass. This unique hill resort is 56 km from Roing and is situated at an altitude of about 8000 ft amidst lofty hills, lush green forests and breathtaking landscapes which provide a panoramic view of the surrounding snow capped mountains and the landscape. The ascending drive from Roing to Mayudia along the winding twelve-necked point (Baro Golai) of the road provides a sense of adventure as well as close encounter with nature.

Bhismaknagar - Bhismaknagar which is 30 km from Roing is the oldest archaeological and mythological site in Arunachal Pradesh with a rich and ancient history. The ruins of the ‘Hill Fort’ made up of burnt bricks dates back to 12th century A.D. The fort which extends over an area of 10 sq. km., was excavated during 1969-1973 which yielded terracotta plaques, decorative tiles, potteries, terracotta figurines etc. Bhismaknagar finds reference in Bhagawad-gita and the Mahabharata. The Idu Mishmi tribe is associated with the legend of Rukmini Devi, King Bhismaka’daughter and Lord Krishna’s consort. It is believed that she was from this tribe. Popular legends and traditions identify the ruins of the fort as the site of the capital of King Bhismaka.

DAY 04: HUNLI- ANINI, 139 KMS/ 3 HRS

Hunli is 90 km from Roing on the way to Anini and is situated in a picturesque scenic valley. The cave temple at Kupuli near Hunli is a sacred place of worship for the tribes of the region. The drive from Roing to Hunli through the well maintained black-topped road provides thrill and eye catching scenic beauty.

In Anini ( District Headquarter of Upper Dibang Valley) 222 km away from Roing, visitors can see the ruins of princes of Rukmini . Rukmini Nati: Famously known as Chimiri Fort. Its location in the village Chimiri gives it the name Chimiri Fort. It is considered to be a 14th century construction. The burnt brick ruins of this hill fort stand proof of the architectural brilliance of the past.

Overnight at hotel/lodge in Anini.

DAY 5: ANINI-TINSUKIA

After breakfast drive back to Tinsukia for next journey.
